Why not just get a 5000 btu A/C stand alone unit from the Home Depot. You would just bolt it to the back seat and install a 2000w inverter to the battery in which to power the ac unit and then drill a hole in the floor to help drain the water coming from the ac unit.

Volkswagen TDI 1.9 guy here. I got mine at 300,000km and had to delete the cat. It was clogged. I feel I gained a lot because now it drives like new but sounds awesome as well. Open exhaust on Turbo Direct Injection sounds and goes great.

End of the day this is still adding 60 pounds of unsprung weight from those motors, just because he subtracted that weight by changing the braking and wheel mount setup doesn't change that. This car minus those motors would lose that amount of unsprung weight. Honestly adding electric in a smaller assist drive like this opens up some neat options in terms of how it can be done and as cool as this is, this isn't it. An entire pre fab rear axle with inboard motor(s) and brakes available in different track widths would certainly be interesting.
